Agree 100% with the idea that human civilization (not just the West because look at China) has been powered by the insatiable need for more. Growth at all costs is the mantra, and capitalism, as it has evolved in the 21st century, is its fullest expression. A company reports revenue growth of 30% and the stock price plummets because its not enough. Food companies put all kinds of harmful chemicals and additives to bring down costs and maximize profits, to hell with how it affects consumers. And on and on…

As a result, consumers are getting poorer, the planet is getting sicker, and the oligarchs who have the power to change things are in denial.
